Dads

Monday, 27 June 2011

Before I start into the main topic of this post, I just need to post this adorable picture of my little princess who has graduated from her first year of preschool. Here she is with her awesome teacher whom she will be blessed to have as her teacher again next year :)

Back to the topic at hand. Dads. We celebrated Father's Day for the past two weekends since my Dad was out of town on the real Father's Day. This way we were able to spend more time reflecting on the greatness of fathers. On the actual day, the girls and I made daddy breakfast while he enjoyed some extra beauty sleep, then we all enjoyed a lovely day together. Lots of food, games, crafts and giggles together. It was an awesome day celebrating an amazing dad!!

A Father's Day never goes by without thinking of Jarvis' dad who passed away nearly eight years ago. He was a wonderful dad and father-in-law and we miss him dearly. I wish he could have met our kids, they would have loved him so much.

Our second Father's Day celebration was lots of fun as well, we had my parents and my brother's family over. The kids always have a blast together and my girls LOVE having their grandpa around. Alyssa takes cuddle time with her grandpa seriously; she doesn't just sit still and snuggle like this with anyone else! It is heartwarming to see my girls loving my dad, and I think I was extra sentimental about it as we celebrated Father's day.

Cheers to dads!

I'm back :)

Saturday, 11 June 2011

I did say that we were prepared for the rain with our cute rain boots and all, but I wasn't mentally prepared for more days of dreary weather. I am pretty certain most everyone else who lives around here feels the same way. Blah. Enough already!! Come back and build another ark for us, Noah ;) We had some fun singing in the rain and jumping in puddles, so now let's complain about sunburns and lack of shade. Sounds good to me!

Enjoy some pics of the girls enjoying a rainy day.

Caught in the act

We weren't going to let a little rain spoil the May long weekend, so we planted anyways. After a fun trip to the garden center (which I always love, so many possibilities!), Kyleigh and I planted our small garden. Our strawberry plants got some new companions this year. We planted various flowers, a raspberry bush, green and yellow zucchini, cucumber, red and yellow pepper, carrots, tomatoes and lettuce. Yum! Even Kyleigh says she can't wait to eat the veggies. I sure hope that is true.

We had a barbeque with some friends a few weekends ago and although I didn't snap many pictures that day with all of the busyness, I caught this cute one of Alyssa. She is so proud to be sitting in her own toddler-sized chair.

Last weekend we took a road trip to Saskatchewan to visit family, and Grandma (Jarvis' mom) came along. It was great to have some back-seat entertainment for the kids! We watched our neice dance her heart out and it was wonderful to see everyone, especially since it might be a long while before we see them again. Of course I forgot to take pictures during the time we were there and only have a few from the drive there.

Funny girl being silly

Today was a hectic day and I can't even count the number of times I heard a "no!". It started with a freak out about what to wear and ended with bedtime struggles. Certainly not an unusual day, but it got to me more than usual today. Posting on this blog is a great remedy for a long day. I look at all of these pictures, reflect on life with these precious girls and am reminded that being their mommy is a blessing. Tomorrow is a new day...and hopefully a bright one!
